Buy my Book 2: The Buy my Bookening
12 months ago – Sun, Dec 03, 2023 at 06:12:13 AM

Hey you beautiful people,

As a small businessman who writes books that would make great gifts (particularly my Weird A-Coloring to Al coloring books) Christmas time is supposed to be the best and busiest time of the year.

That's why I wanted to get The Fractured Mirror done by November of this year.

I wasn't able to make that happen because I wanted to take my time and do the best possible job.

I told myself that I'd still manage to sell some books even without a new one out.

It has been a solid week, however, since I've sold so much as a single copy of a single one of the six  or seven books in my store. I'm trying not to obsess about it but it doesn't feel good or give me faith that I'll be sell even an exceedingly modest amount in the future.

So if you would consider buying one of my books from my store it would be much appreciated. I need the money but more than that, it would mean a lot to me psychologically. That way I could answer the angry voice in my head that says, "Nobody will ever want anything you have to offer, ever, with, "At least one person wants at least one thing I have to offer."

I'm temporarily out of hardcover copies of The Joy of Trash, because I'm so pessimistic I didn't order enough copies but there should be more in in about a week. Otherwise, everything else is in stock and looking for a good home at https://www.nathanrabin.com/shop

New crowdfunding campaign launches today! Blues Brothers Convention 2(000)!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Aug 01, 2023 at 07:57:44 AM

Hey you beautiful, generous souls

I got so much from my first trip to the Blues Brothers Convention that I included my massive, meaty essay on it in the Flaming Garbage Fire extended edition of The Joy of Trash. So I've decided to go back for this year's convention in September. But I need YOUR help to do so.

So please consider contributing to the new campaign over at https://www.gofundme.com/f/send-nathan-back-to-joliet-prison-4-bluesbcon2

The first day is do or die for most campaigns so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping the universe is kind to me on this most important of dates.

I am overjoyed to announce that The Joy of Trash is now available in a brand spanking new Flaming Garbage Fire Extended Edition

I'm on Substack now! Introducing Nathan Rabin's Bad Ideas!
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jan 11, 2023 at 12:14:48 PM

Hey you beautiful people,

Like pretty much everyone, I now have a newsletter on Substack. I'm pleased to announce Nathan Rabin's Bad Ideas, a brand spanking new clearinghouse for some of my very worst ideas.

What kind of bad ideas? Well, I will be writing up ALL of the Ernest P. Worrell movies because it's about time that overlooked comic genius got his due.

I'll also be going to the theater every Friday and reviewing two movies a week for the first time since the late 1990s, when I was a freelancer for The A.V Club. You can determine what I write up. First up is this Friday, when I'll either be writing up some combination of the Gerard Butler movie Plane, the House Party reboot or Meg3an.

Later that night I'll be attending a Shrek-themed rave, which I will also be writing up for Nathan Rabin's Bad Ideas.

And in February I will begin writing up either the complete filmography of James Belushi or Gary Busey. YOU CAN DECIDE by getting a paid subscription (just 5 dollars a month, or the cost of an expensive coffee from Starbuck's) and casting your vote.

That's just the beginning! Nathan Rabin's Bad Ideas can be anything and I very much want you beautiful, supportive people to help shape and mold what it becomes.

This is an exciting new phase in my career. I invite y'all to join me.

I've really stepped up my freelancing as of late but man oh man would I love it if this Substack was a success.

Check it out here: https://nathanrabin.substack.com/

So if you would be kind enough to help me spread the word it would be much appreciated!

This is a supremely important day for me and my career. I would love for it to go well.
